Description

This small Anagama vase is distinguished by its compact rounded form and short neck. Its restrained silhouette allows the most striking feature of the piece – the dramatic variation of its surface – to take centre stage.
One side is dominated by lighter earthy browns, ochre and grey tones with abundant traces of wood ash. On the opposite side, the surface becomes darker and smoother, revealing deep brown, charcoal and bronze nuances. The transition between these contrasting surfaces beautifully emphasises the rounded form of the vase.
The vase was wheel-thrown from German clay and fired for 114 hours in the Karmazinai Anagama, reaching approximately 1300 °C, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the ash glaze, colour transitions and individual fire marks. Different sides of the vase were exposed to flame and ash in different ways, creating a surface that cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 10 cm

The vase is suitable for a single flower, a small branch or a minimal botanical arrangement. Its strong contrast of surfaces also allows it to be displayed as a small collectible work of ceramic art.
