Description

This Anagama vase has an elongated, restrained form with a narrow upright neck and softly rounded shoulders. The more cylindrical lower body gives the vessel a grounded silhouette, while its simple proportions allow the firing-created surface to take centre stage.
Warm reddish-brown clay tones contrast with smoky greys, charcoal hues and pale golden ash glaze. On one side, accumulated wood ash melted at high temperature and flowed downward, creating distinctive light-coloured runs. Some areas have a gentle sheen, while others remain matte and textured. As the vase is turned, different patterns shaped by flame and ash become visible.
The vase was fired for 114 hours in the Karmazinų Anagama, reaching approximately 1300 °C, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the ash glaze, colour transitions and individual fire marks. The resulting surface cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 17 cm
Diameter 11 cm

The vase can be used for flowers, grasses or branches, or as an interior decorative object. Its distinctive ash-glaze runs also make it particularly effective when displayed on its own.
