Description
This Anagama vase has a softly rounded, slightly oval form with a short neck and subtly flared rim. Its restrained silhouette draws attention to the surface shaped during the prolonged wood firing.
Deep charcoal, smoky grey and warm bronze-brown tones dominate the vase. Some areas have a gentle sheen, while others remain matte. Subtle ash traces, fire marks and visible horizontal throwing lines animate the surface and emphasise the rounded form. As the vase is turned, the balance of colour and texture changes, giving each side a slightly different appearance.
The vase was wheel-thrown and fired for 114 hours in the Karmazinai Anagama, reaching approximately 1300 °C, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the colour transitions, ash glaze and individual fire marks. The resulting surface cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way.

The vase can be used for flowers, grasses or branches, or as an interior decorative object. Its rich dark tones and balanced form also make it attractive when displayed on its own.
