Description
This small Anagama vase is distinguished by its compact, almost spherical form and short narrow neck. Its calm, balanced silhouette allows the surface to take centre stage, with different sides of the piece revealing distinctly different atmospheric qualities.
Warm ochre, bronze and earthy tones transition into smoky greys and deep charcoal hues. Fine ash deposits, mineral markings and subtly glass-like areas of naturally formed ash glaze appear across the surface. These shifts in colour and texture emphasise the rounded form and give the small piece remarkable visual depth.
The vase was wheel-thrown from German clay and fired for 114 hours in the Karmazinai Anagama, reaching approximately 1300 °C, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the ash glaze, colour transitions and individual fire marks. These processes give the piece a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
Height: 8,5 cm
The vase is suitable for a single flower, a small branch or a minimal botanical arrangement. Its intimate scale, expressive surface and singular character also allow it to be appreciated as a miniature collectible work of ceramic art.
