Description
This Anagama vase is distinguished by its wide, gently flaring and subtly asymmetrical form. Its restrained silhouette becomes a canvas for an exceptionally expressive, almost painterly surface where deep charcoal tones, ember-red hues, pale creams and muted golden nuances come together.
Colour and texture move freely across the surface like an abstract composition. Dark carbonised areas contrast with lighter zones of naturally formed ash glaze, while warm reddish-brown passages reveal areas of more intense exposure to flame. Inside, rich copper and fired-earth tones add another layer to the overall colour composition.
The vase was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. These processes give the piece a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
Height: 32 cm
Diameter 28 cm
The vase can be used for floral or branch arrangements, while its expressive colour, asymmetrical form and painterly surface also allow it to stand as an independent collectible work of ceramic art.
