Description

This handmade cup is distinguished by its restrained cylindrical form and richly layered surface. Pale creamy and ochre tones around the upper part transition into deeper charcoal, earthy brown and ember-red nuances. The interplay of matte, velvety and more glass-like areas gives the piece visual depth, while its subtly defined foot lends lightness to the silhouette.

The cup was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama wood-fired high-temperature kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the long firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the ash glaze, layered colour transitions and individual fire marks on the surface. Every Anagama-fired piece is one of a kind and can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 7,5 cm
Diameter: 8 cm

Suitable for tea, espresso, sake or small beverage rituals. Its refined form and expressive surface also allow it to be appreciated as a small collectible ceramic work.
