Description

This small handmade cup is distinguished by its compact, softly rounded form and lively contrasting surface. Pale sandy, creamy and warm brown tones blend with smoky greys and deep charcoal fire marks. In some areas, naturally formed ash glaze creates subtle glass-like highlights, while other parts of the surface remain matte and tactile.

The cup was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama wood-fired high-temperature kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the long firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the colours, textures and layers of ash glaze. Every Anagama-fired piece is one of a kind and can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 7,5 cm
Diameter: 7,5 cm

Comfortable to hold in the palm, it is suitable for tea, sake or small beverage rituals. Its restrained form allows the surface shaped by fire and ash to remain the central expression of the piece.
