Description
This Anagama vase is distinguished by its tall architectural composition, built from a rhythmic sequence of geometric and rounded segments. The rounded upper section brings a sense of calm, while the more angular middle and lower planes introduce movement, tension and a strong sculptural silhouette.
Warm honey, amber and golden tones move across the surface alongside smoky greys and deeper charcoal hues. In some areas, naturally formed ash glaze flows downward in smoother, more glass-like passages, while elsewhere the surface remains matte, mineral and tactile. Each plane received flame and ash differently during the firing, giving every segment its own colour and textural character.
The vase was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. These processes give the piece a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
Height: 76 cm
The vase can be used for tall branch or botanical arrangements, while its scale, vertical rhythm and expressive surface also allow it to stand as an independent collectible work of ceramic art.
