Description
“Infant Elephant” is a vertical ceramic sculpture in which an abstracted animal motif merges with an organic, almost ritual form. Soft rounded volumes evoke the gentleness of a young elephant, while the more angular lower sections give the figure stability and sculptural weight.
The upper part of the composition is crowned by a ring of small spherical elements, introducing a symbolic and rhythmic movement. From different viewpoints, the sculpture reveals changing silhouettes, shifts in proportion, and a varied interplay of light and shadow.
Warm earthy browns, soft greys and deeper charcoal tones move across the surface, with occasional orange and golden fire accents. The contrast between matte and subtly lustrous areas gives the piece tactile richness and visual depth.
The sculpture was fired in an Anagama kiln. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. These processes give the work a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
Height: 95 cm
“Infant Elephant” can become a strong focal point within a space. Its vertical silhouette, organic modelling and symbolic upper motif give the sculpture a sense of serenity, vulnerability and inner strength.
