Description
“Corals” is a vertical ceramic sculpture whose organic structure evokes a growing coral reef or an otherworldly natural formation. From deep, root-like forms rises a constellation of spheres of varying sizes, creating a dynamic upward movement.
The surface brings together deep charcoal and dark earthy tones with lighter greys, browns and occasional golden nuances. Some of the spherical forms appear matte and mineral-like, while others are smoother, more glass-like and almost obsidian-dark. These contrasts of surface and light create a strong visual rhythm and reveal a different composition from every viewpoint.
The sculpture was fired in an Anagama kiln. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks across the surface. These processes reinforce the sculpture’s organic character and give the piece a singular quality that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
Height: 90 cm
“Corals” can serve as a powerful spatial focal point – not only as a sculptural object, but as a vertical composition of changing surfaces, light and shadow.
