Description

This Anagama vase is distinguished by its classic softly rounded form, short neck and subtly flared rim. Its calm, balanced silhouette allows the surface to become the central expression of the piece, bringing together warm earthy browns, muted ochre, smoky greys and deep charcoal tones.
The surface is richly tactile: some areas remain matte, rugged and mineral, while naturally formed ash glaze introduces a softer, more glass-like quality elsewhere. Subtle colour transitions and variations in ash accumulation allow each side of the vase to reveal a slightly different character.
The vase was fired for 114 hours in the Karmazinai Anagama, reaching approximately 1300 °C, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. These processes give the piece a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 32 cm

The vase is suitable for floral or branch arrangements, while its classical form and richly atmospheric surface also allow it to stand as an independent collectible work of ceramic art.
