Description

This small Anagama vase is distinguished by its gently elongated rounded form, short neck and subtly flared rim. Its restrained silhouette allows the surface created during the firing to become the main visual focus.
Pale ash, soft grey and earthy tones dominate the upper section. A pronounced dark smoky band encircles the middle of the vase, marking an area of more intense flame and reduction. Toward the lower body, warmer brown, reddish and muted ochre hues emerge. Together, these natural transitions create a distinctive pattern formed entirely during the firing.
The surface remains matte and gently granular in some areas, while naturally formed ash glaze introduces a subtle sheen elsewhere. As the vase is turned, different combinations of colour and texture become visible.
The vase was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the ash glaze, colour transitions and individual fire marks. The resulting surface cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 12,5 cm
Diameter 9 cm
Weight: 340 g

The vase is suitable for a single flower, a small branch or a minimal botanical arrangement. Its restrained form and distinctive fire-shaped surface also allow it to be displayed as a small collectible work of ceramic art.
