Description

This small Anagama vase is distinguished by its compact form, clearly defined shoulders and short neck. Its restrained, slightly angular silhouette contrasts beautifully with the freely developed surface created during the firing.
Lighter grey, earthy and ash tones dominate the upper section, gradually shifting into deeper smoky and charcoal hues toward the base. Fine dark speckles and irregularities come from granite inclusions within the clay, which transformed together with the body at high temperature. Naturally formed ash glaze introduces a subtle sheen in some areas, while others remain matte and more textured.
The vase was wheel-thrown from German clay with granite inclusions and fired for 114 hours in the Karmazinai Anagama, reaching approximately 1300 °C, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the ash glaze, colour transitions and individual fire marks. The resulting surface cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way.
The vase is suitable for a single flower, a small branch or a minimal botanical arrangement. Its restrained form and expressive surface also allow it to be displayed as a small collectible work of ceramic art.
