Description
This small Anagama vase has an almost spherical form with a narrow opening. Its simple, balanced silhouette allows the surface created during the prolonged wood firing to become the main visual focus.
Deep earthy browns, smoky greys and muted metallic nuances move across the surface. In some areas, naturally formed ash glaze produces a gentle sheen, while elsewhere the surface remains matte and darker. Subtle horizontal throwing lines emphasise the rounded form, while the uneven distribution of ash and fire marks gives each side a slightly different appearance.
The vase was fired for several days in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. The resulting surface cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way.
Height: 7 cm
Diameter 7 cm
The vase is suitable for a single flower, a small branch or a modest botanical arrangement. Its rounded form and subtle colour transitions also make it beautiful when displayed on its own.
