Description
This small Anagama vase has a compact, gently flaring form. Its restrained silhouette allows the distinctive surface pattern formed during the prolonged wood firing to become the main visual focus.
One side is dominated by pale cream, sand and ash tones, while the other shifts into deep smoky greys and charcoal hues. Between them runs an irregular transition that records the movement of flame across the surface. Some areas remain matte and softly textured, while naturally formed ash glaze introduces a subtle sheen elsewhere.
The vase was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the ash glaze, colour transitions and individual fire marks. The resulting surface cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way.
Height: 6,5 cm
Diameter 7 cm
The vase is suitable for a single flower, a small branch or a minimal botanical arrangement. Its strong contrast of surfaces also allows it to be displayed as a small collectible work of ceramic art.
