Description

This handmade cup is distinguished by its restrained, gently tapered form and richly varied surface. A pale creamy ash glaze around the upper part transitions into reddish-brown, grey and charcoal tones. Fine speckling, irregularities and areas of more tactile texture create an expressive yet balanced surface rhythm.

The interior is darker and smokier, creating a strong contrast with the lighter exterior and adding visual depth. A subtle foot gently lifts the vessel, giving the form a light and balanced presence.

The cup was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama wood-fired high-temperature kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the long firing, flame and wood ash naturally formed the ash glaze, colour transitions and individual fire marks on the surface. Every Anagama-fired piece is one of a kind and can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 8,5 cm
Diameter: 8 cm

Suitable for tea, sake or small beverage rituals. Its expressive surface also allows the cup to be appreciated as a small collectible ceramic work.
