Description
This handmade cup is distinguished by its solid, restrained form and expressive ring-shaped handle. Dark grey-brown surface tones contrast with warm ochre and golden nuances concentrated around the upper part of the vessel. The interplay between matte and more glass-like surfaces gives the piece depth, while the natural colour transitions emphasise its unique character.
The cup was fired for more than 100 hours in the Dūkštos Anagama wood-fired high-temperature kiln. During the long firing, wood ash carried by the flames naturally melted onto the surface, forming an ash glaze and distinctive flame marks. Every Anagama-fired piece is unique and can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
Its comfortable handle and balanced form make it suitable for coffee, tea or an everyday beverage ritual. The expressive surface also allows the piece to be appreciated as a small collectible ceramic object.
