Description

This Anagama vase is distinguished by its restrained, gently tapered form and subtly flared rim. Its balanced silhouette allows the richly varied surface to take centre stage, with smoky greys, warm ochres, earthy browns and occasional ember-toned nuances flowing across the form.
Toward the lower section, the colours deepen and become more mineral, revealing darker fire marks and textured deposits, while the upper part becomes softer and lighter, with almost mist-like transitions. Areas of naturally formed ash glaze, matte textures and smoother passages create subtle visual depth.
The vase was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. These processes give the piece a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 25 cm

The vase is suitable for floral or branch arrangements, while its restrained form and atmospheric surface also allow it to stand as an independent collectible work of ceramic art.
