Description

This Anagama vase is distinguished by its full, rounded form, elegantly tapering toward the base and opening into a broad, subtly flared rim. Its monumental yet balanced silhouette gives the piece a strong sculptural presence and a grounded sense of stability.
Deep charcoal, smoky grey and earthy brown tones move across the surface. Warmer bronze and subtly metallic nuances emerge in places, while granular mineral textures contrast with smoother areas of naturally formed ash glaze. Light responds differently to each part of the surface, allowing the colour and texture of the vase to shift with the viewing angle.
The vase was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. These processes give the piece a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 50 cm
Diameter 33 cm

The vase is suitable for taller branch or botanical arrangements, while its proportions, monumental silhouette and richly varied surface also allow it to stand as an independent collectible work of ceramic art.
