Description

This Anagama vase is distinguished by its tall vertical composition and architecturally segmented form. Rising from a grounded, column-like base, the silhouette develops through angular, rhythmically shifting planes into a narrower upper section. This structure gives the piece a strong sense of movement, tension and sculptural presence.
Deep earthy, smoky grey and charcoal tones are interwoven with warm brown, ochre and occasional metallic nuances. Naturally formed ash glaze has developed differently across the various planes of the form, allowing light to reveal a new surface character from each viewpoint. As the vase is seen from different angles, both its silhouette and visual rhythm continually change.
The vase was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. These processes give the piece a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.

Height: 58 cm

The vase can be used for floral or branch arrangements, while its scale, architectural form and expressive surface also allow it to stand as an independent collectible work of ceramic art.
