Description
“Solar Ash Bloom” is an Anagama vase whose classical rounded form becomes a canvas for an exceptionally expressive surface. Pale creamy and golden areas of naturally formed ash glaze contrast with deep smoky passages, while warmer reddish-orange tones toward the lower body introduce a sense of inner glow and vitality.
Across the surface, matte mineral areas shift into subtly glass-like passages. Fine ash deposits, natural runs and smoky transitions create a layered, almost painterly composition. As the vase is viewed from different angles, the relationship between light, colour and texture continually changes, allowing the piece to reveal a different expression each time.
The vase was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame and wood ash naturally shaped the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. These processes give the piece a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
“Solar Ash Bloom” can be used for floral or branch arrangements, while its rich colour and expressive surface also allow it to stand as an independent collectible work of ceramic art.
