Description

This Anagama vase is distinguished by its full, softly rounded form, gently narrowing shoulders and subtly flared neck. Its balanced classical silhouette brings a sense of calm, while the richly varied surface becomes the central aesthetic expression of the piece.
Smoky greys, deep earthy browns, rust tones and charcoal nuances move across the surface. Lighter mineral ash deposits, small glass-like spots and areas of naturally formed ash glaze emerge in places. The interplay of matte, rugged and more lustrous textures gives the vase both visual and tactile depth.
The vase was fired for more than 100 hours in an Anagama kiln, with no glaze applied beforehand. During the prolonged wood firing, flame, embers and wood ash naturally shaped the surface colours, ash glaze and individual fire marks. Each side records a different aspect of the firing, making the piece rewarding to view from multiple angles.

Height: 33 cm

The vase is suitable for floral or branch arrangements, while its classical form and highly expressive surface also allow it to stand as an independent collectible work of ceramic art. The Anagama firing gives the piece a singular character that can never be reproduced in exactly the same way.
