Description

This traditionally shaped Chawan is designed for Matcha preparation and a quiet tea ritual. Its rounded body, wide opening and small foot create a balanced form that feels comfortable when held in both hands.
Soft cream, ivory and sandy tones dominate the surface, accompanied by subtle brown and smoky firing marks that vary around the cup. The light, gently lustrous interior provides a beautiful contrast to the rich green colour of prepared Matcha.
The Chawan was fired in a traditional wood-fired kiln, where high temperature, flame and ash naturally influenced the surface. Subtle colour transitions and firing marks developed inside the kiln, giving each side of the cup a slightly different appearance.

Height: 7,5 cm
Diameter: 13,5 cm

The wide form provides ample room for whisking Matcha with a bamboo chasen. The cup is comfortable to hold in both hands and can be filled approximately one-third full, encouraging a slower and more attentive tea experience.
