Description
This cylindrical stoneware cup combines a pale ash-glazed surface with an expressive turquoise glaze. Its simple form provides a clear background for the flowing decoration and the subtle surface variations created during the firing.
The sandy cream surface reveals fine clay speckling and natural variations in the ash glaze. Rich turquoise glaze moves freely around the cup in irregular bands and branching forms. Its glossier areas contrast with the more matte, gently textured background.
The cup was wood-fired at approximately 1300 °C. During the firing, wood ash reacted with the clay and glaze surface, creating subtle differences in colour, sheen and texture.
Height: 8 cm
Diameter 7 cm
Suitable for tea, coffee and other hot drinks. Its expressive turquoise glaze also makes the cup attractive as a small decorative ceramic object.
