A small raised foot gives the cup stability, while the open rim provides ample space for whisking Matcha with a bamboo chasen.<\/p>\n<p>The surface combines soft sandy, creamy, and warm brown tones crossed by a darker smoky band. Fine ash speckling and irregular colour transitions developed during the Anagama firing, as flame and wood ash affected each area of the cup differently. One side remains lighter, while another reveals deeper grey and brown markings, so the appearance changes as the cup is turned.<\/p>\n<p>The interior has a warmer sandy-brown tone, providing a beautiful background for the vivid green colour of prepared Matcha.
